Text: Matthew 8:5-13
Memory verse:
”And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed, and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,“
II Corinthians 4:13 NKJV
We learnt yesterday that David prevailed against Goliath without a sword in his hand but not without a sword in his mouth! With faith in the heart and faith in the mouth, your victory over any giant is guaranteed.
Without speaking out, faith in the heart can’t be expressed.
Let us consider this word of our Lord, Jesus. ”…“Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.“
(Mark 11:22-23). Notice the three “says” in this quote. They are, “whoever says”, “believe that those things he says” and “will have whatever he says”. These repetitions are to emphasize the importance of speaking in the practice of faith.
One of the primary actions of Bible faith is speaking out your faith. In Matthew 17:20, Jesus said, “..if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain…” In the case of the centurion man, his faith was qualified by the Lord as great faith. He earned that because he expressed the faith in his heart through speaking (Matt 8:8, 10). So, whether your faith is small or big, you can’t express it in silence! You must ‘say’ it out. In order words, if you don’t say it, it simply means you don’t have faith in your heart.
For faith to operate, it must be expressed through spoken words. The content of your speech is evidence of your faith. Although one may act faith in speech, that can’t always be so. Sometimes and unconsciously, the true speech will be expressed.
David said, ”I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him, I will trust.“ (Psa 91:2). Dare to speak the word of God over yourself and your family. Speak out the word of faith confidently, repeatedly, and boldly. ”So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”“ (Heb 13:6). It is odd to speak the word of faith timidly!
Friends, start practicing this principle by consciously and daily speaking the word of faith into your destiny.
