Text: Matthew 20: 1-10
Memory verse:
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,”
Ephesians 3:20 NKJV
A brother was almost out of stay in the country where he was. Even though he was well qualified, he couldn’t secure a job, despite having applied to several organizations after his schooling. The only option left for him was to move out of the country and which he had already concluded. However, just before the expiration of his time, a major organization which he least expected invited him for an interview, selected him in the midst of other more qualified candidates and thereafter, sponsored his residential permit! His fear was suddenly turned to favour! Hallelujah!
A miracle is something beyond human understanding and reasoning or an event that violates natural laws. It is something that causes you to wonder. God is known as the God of miracles (Psalms 77:14; 136:4). He can perform miracles anytime, any day and anywhere.
However, the eleventh hour miracle is not only a miracle but a miracle that you get when it looks like time is running out on you. When it seems you are going to go home empty-handed or go out with disgrace. According to our text today, some of the men had been there since the morning hours waiting for someone to engage them.
“At five o’clock that evening, he was in town again and saw some more people standing around. He asked them, ‘Why haven’t you been working today?’ “They replied, ‘Because no one hired us.’ “The landowner told them, ‘Then go out and join the others in my vineyard.’
(Matt 20:6-7 NLT)
They were not in that situation because they were lazy or unqualified, but things didn’t just work for them. Having waited for about eleven hours, now about 5pm, it was almost a hopeless time but suddenly, the tide turned in their favour. Their impending shame was turned to fame; their prayer point was turned to praise point. To crown it all, God exceeded their expectations. They would have expected to go home with an hour wage but they received a full day job wage! Our God is able to do infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams. Glory!
The eleventh hour miracle is a miracle at the nick of time. In Acts 12;6-11, Peter had been imprisoned, and it was just about a few hours to his execution, when a miracle of deliverance took place for him.
Friends, don’t give up on God. Keep taking your position and standing on His word. You won’t be disgraced nor end this year empty-handed. The God of the eleventh hour will exceed your greatest prayers, aspirations, and dreams in Jesus’ name.
Prayer points
1. Father, please help me not to be weary, be discouraged , or give up on you in Jesus’ name.
2. My Father, please, give me the eleventh hour miracle and let your goodness exceed my greatest prayers and dreams in Jesus’ name.
Today’s declarations
1. I believe in the God of the eleventh hour, so I maintain my position, and I don’t walk out on Him.
2. I will not end this month and this year empty-handed or in shame; and God will exceed my greatest prayers, hopes, and dreams.
