Text: Psalms 138:1-8
Memory text:
“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand Against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me.”
Psalms 138:7 NKJV
The year 2024 has witnessed one of the greatest evils in recent years. Every breaking news seemed to be the news of death, destruction, violence, and calamities. Despite the troubles, we have gone through 335 days in the year! Hallelujah! God is faithful to take us through the remaining 31 days. Amen!
No matter your present condition or tale, your being alive and able to read this devotional today is nothing short of God’s mercy. “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.” (Lam 3:22). Only a fool and an ignorant person would not consider this as a miracle. Even if you have lost anything, God is still the reason why you are alive and still have something left at all. Do you know that there are so many who would have been eternally grateful if they were where you are today or were in your present condition? Like someone said, “What you take for granted is another person’s prayer point.” You may say, ‘I’m not where I should be’ but you are surely not where you used to be, except you cannot count your blessings. God has added value to your life. Even for the fact that you still have the breath of life within you, you should be super thankful. “As long as we are alive, we still have hope, just as a live dog is better off than a dead lion.” (Ecc 9:4 CEV). Hallelujah!
God has promised to give us a good year ending, so our end can be better than our beginning. “You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance.” (Psa 65:11). God reserves the best for the last. Ingratitude disqualifies one from God’s blessings.
Do you know that it takes the hand of the Almighty God to preserve and protect anyone alive and from evil? As the scripture says, every day is full of its own evil (Math 6:34). We have been kept by an invisible and powerful hand. The hollow of God’s hand measured the waters of the ocean (Isa 40:12). Imagine how deep that hollow is! No wonder Jesus said, “No one can pluck us out of His hand. According to our memory text, David speaks of the protection and safety of God’s hand even when he was surrounded by enemies.
Friends, God’s hand has kept you from January till now. Give credit to Him who deserves it. Thank Him for His protective hand and for His faithfulness to complete the remaining year. Hallelujah!
Prayer points
1. Father, thank You for Your hand of protection and preservation over me and my loved ones from January till now. Accept my praises in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, please, according to Your faithfulness, let that hand keep us for the rest of the year and beyond, in Jesus’ name.
Today’s declarations
1. No one can pluck me out of God’s hand because my life is kept in the hollow of His hand.
2. Even though I am surrounded by enemies, I am not afraid because God’s hand is stretched against the wrath of my enemies.
