Why do you need to pray in the Spirit or with the spirit?
Firstly, you need help to sustain momentum in spiritual warfare. You need to be high in the Spirit to be able to confront the enemy. When you pray in the Spirit, your spirit is built up, that is, edified (1 Cor 14:4). Without this supernatural help, the enemy will take advantage of this weakness. “In certain ways, we are weak, but the Spirit is here to help us. ..” (Rom 8:26 CEV). When you pray in the Spirit or with the spirit, your inner being, that is, your spirit is strengthened. “I ask God from the wealth of His glory to give you power through His Spirit to be strong in your inner selves,” (Eph 3:16)
Secondly, it helps you to pray for things beyond your natural knowledge. You need to always be mindful that this battle is between satanic spirits and the Spirit of God. And if the Spirit of God is involved, you must therefore find out His will in the battle. You must know how He wants the battle to be fought. “All of our thoughts are known to God. He can understand what is in the mind of the Spirit, as the Spirit prays for God’s people.” (Rom 8:27 CEV).
Praying in the Spirit or with the Spirit helps you to pray the plan and will of God into your life.
Thirdly, praying in the Spirit or with the spirit opens to you the resources of God. Since the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God, He knows the right word, that is, the sword to use for any particular case. Just like there are many potent medicines on the counter, yet every medicine has its own specific use. You won’t get any success if you just use any medicine for all cases. However, as you pray in the Spirit He pops up the right word within your spirit and as you use it, you get results Sometimes ago, I was praying about a situation that had been giving me great concern and as I was praying deeply in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to the situation and He gave me the right word to use. So, rather than praying generally as I did before, I began to demolish the stronghold of lawlessness as the Holy Spirit gave me direction.
Friends, take advantage of the Holy Spirit to build up your spirit.

1. Father, please let Your Spirit reveal deep things to me as I pray, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, strengthen me with might in my innermost being, through Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
