Text: 2 Samuel 5:17-25
Memory verse:
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,”
II Corinthians 10:4 NKJV
Floods are the most frequent types of natural disasters and may result from sea overflow. Also, dam breaks and failures can cause water floods. Floods come with such an incredible power that it clears away anything that stands as obstruction on its pathway, including lives and properties. Floods can be devastating and can cause significant damage in their wake.
David called God, Baal-Perazim, which means the Lord of breakthroughs or breaches. “So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.” (II Sam 5:20).
David compared his victory over the Philistines to the flood of water, which sweeps away all obstacles on its way. He describes it as a breakthrough of water, triggered by the irresistible might of God. It’s just like armies who rush down upon their foes, who are unable to defend against the onslaught and break through them to have tremendous victory. God breaks out suddenly against His enemies and the enemies of His people with such an overwhelming power that no one can stop. It was an unstoppable defeat.
You may wonder why David named it after Baal instead of the Lord. Yes, the Philistines believed the mountain was the most robust and secured place that no one could ever break through. Thus, when God gave David such an overwhelming triumph over the enemies, he called it Baal-Perazim, which means God broke through my enemies stronghold.
Friends, you are the light of the world. According to Isaiah 28:21, God wants to repeat the Baal-Perazim encounter at this season and in your life. As light enjoys sudden and an unquestionable breakthrough over thick darkness, so shall your breakthrough be (Gen 1:3; John 1:5). This revelation is your weapon against the enemy. Prepare for a dramatic breakthrough over every long-standing and stubborn issue and a sudden shift from the usual to the unusual. Expect a sudden and overwhelming victory in areas of your life where the enemy has been claiming control. You will experience galant and unstoppable triumphs over every long-standing enemies. Every answer of “nos” to good things in your life will be turned to “yes” in Jesus’ name.
Prayer points
1. I pull down down every stronghold of the enemy against my progress now in Jesus’ name.
2. O Lord of breakthrough, please, arise as in Mt. Perazim and give me an unusual breakthrough over every stubborn issue of my life in Jesus’ name.
Today’s declarations
1. As the light of the world, I enjoy sudden and unquestionable triumphs over the power of darkness and stubborn issues.
2. I am convinced that, as in Mount Perazim, the Lord of breakthrough will arise for me during this season.
