THE NAME JESUS IS OUR TOOL OF DOMINION

THE NAME JESUS IS OUR TOOL OF DOMINION

Text: Genesis 2:15-20
Memory text:
“Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

To have dominion is to have the right to rule; to have control over the earth, or to have authority over satan and all evils, including diseases and disasters. A person of dominion has control over the affairs of life and reigns over situations and circumstances.
God blessed man and empowered him to have dominion over creations (Gen‬ ‭1‬:‭28‬). Dominion is our mandate. The blessing was in the empowerment. Man would not have had dominion without such divine enablement. God put man in the garden of Eden to care for it by exercising dominion over the animals, plants, and resources. For example and according to our text, God didn’t give names to any of the animals but allowed Adam to name them as he wanted. God considered his decision on them as final, not to be reviewed by Him. “…and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. …” ‭‭(Gen‬ ‭2‬:‭19‬-‭20‬).
Adam lost this dominion through sin, but Jesus, the second Adam, came to restore it to all who believe in Him. He raised us up to sit with Him in the heavenly places; the place of dominion (Eph 1:20-22; 2:6).
He also gave us the name, Jesus, as our tool of dominion on earth. Every king rules with his tool of dominion, which is his scepter or a staff of office. Until the king receives his staff of office, his throne is not established, and his authority can be challenged.
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” ‭‭(Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭19‬). Authority is different from power. A person may have power but may not have authority or vice versa. Authority is about right, while power is ability. Today, satan is a toothless lion because Jesus has recovered the authority that he cunningly stole from Adam in the garden of Eden. Satan is only exercising the power that he doesn’t have the authority to use. However, God authorized and empowered us to exercise dominion over satan and all his powers. This is what it means, ‘to tread upon’, that is, to bring something under subjection, that is, to have dominion over. The name of Jesus is the tool of that dominion.
Friends, if you are a believer, you have an unimaginable and unquestionable dominion over satan and over all his powers and over circumstances and situations through the name of Jesus.

Prayer points
1. Father, thank You for giving me dominion over satan and all his powers and over all situations and circumstances through the name of Jesus.
2. Father, I take my place of dominion in Christ, and I exercise my unquestionable dominion in all areas of my life, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
