Wisdom is the ability to live and make decisions in alignment with God’s will. It’s beyond acquisition of knowledge and the right application of knowledge. True wisdom comes from God but accessible through His Word. Every Word of God’s mouth is loaded with wisdom.
“For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth comes knowledge and understanding;” ‭‭(Prov‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬).
The custom of seeking wisdom from sages is deeply rooted in many cultures, including biblical tradition. People travel great distances to listen to their wisdom and to learn. They record their teachings and pass them through generations.
God is above all the sages. He is the Omniscient, meaning He has all knowledge and understands all things. In fact, nothing is a mystery to Him. His understanding is infinite. His judgment is unsearchable! (Psa 147:5; Rom 11:33). Nothing is shielded from Him, for even darkness is light to Him. No one has these qualities, not even spirits or the devil. Unlike man, God doesn’t need to study to learn. He doesn’t acquire knowledge or wisdom. He doesn’t consult anyone for wisdom. He is the all-wise God (Jude 1:25). He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding (Dan 2: 21).
If listening to sages and reading their books made them wise, what will it look if one listens to and immerses oneself in the words of the All-wise God. This was the testimony of David (Psa‬ ‭119‬:‭98‬-‭99). There are wicked people all around. Some of them are closer to you than you can ever imagine. They laugh with you but seek to undo you. They continually set traps for you. These are the most dangerous enemies, in that they come as friends. Yet, the Word of God will make you wiser than all of them such that they wouldn’t be able to outsmart you. It will also give you deeper insight into the affairs of life than your teachers. ‭‭
The Word of God is the source of wisdom and understanding. “Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples …’” ‭‭(Deut‬ ‭4‬:‭6).
You draw wisdom not only from reading but in practicing it. “I’ve become wiser than the wise old sages simply by doing what you tell me.” (Psa 119:100 MSG).
Friends, build your wisdom profile by giving yourself to the Word of God.

Prayer points
1. Father, please build me up in wisdom and understanding as I give myself to meditate and study Your Word, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, I receive grace, not only to read Your Word but to diligently obey it in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. My enemies may surround me, but they can’t outwit me because God’s Word makes me wiser than them all.
2. I gain wisdom and understanding by reading, meditating, and obeying God’s Word.
