WALKING IN THE SPIRIT 7

WALKING IN THE SPIRIT 7

Text: Romans 8:26-27
Memory verse:
“Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
‭‭
To walk in the Spirit is to walk in the perfect will of God but to walk in the flesh is to walk according to the desires of your flesh and consequently, to walk in the will of satan. Likewise, you can’t walk in the will of God unless you first know what the will of God is in every situation.
One of the reasons for seeking the will of God in everything is that man is limited in knowledge and information. Most times our decisions in life are based on our current level of exposures. So many have walked out of the perfect will of God because they took decisions based on the present. These include wrong choices of ministry, marriage partner, location, jobs, business and so forth. Our perspective about life is limited. For example, experiencing trouble in your marriage, business or job does not necessarily mean you are out of God’s will. Jesus and His disciples were on a journey when they faced a deadly storm (Mark 4:35-37). A sister once walked out of God’s will for her marriage and went out after a man with a good job and ‘great prospect’ but she was wrong, as the future was never as she had thought!
It is not in man’s ability to direct his path (Jer 10:23). The Spirit searches all things and knows what the will of God is in every situation (1 Cor 2:10). We need to find out what the will of God is through prayer. According to our text, it didn’t say that we don’t know what we should pray for. We all know what to pray for. A person who has a debt on his neck knows the problem and talks to God about it. He may ask God to provide him money to clear the debts but that may not be God’s will to solve the problem. God’s plan may be to move the creditor to write off the debt. You see, you knew what to pray about but you didn’t know how to present it. This limitation of man can be handled when you pray in the Holy Spirit. Since the Holy Spirit knows what is in the mind of God, He then prays accordingly and harmoniously. “And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.”
‭‭(Rom‬ ‭8‬:‭27‬ NLT)‬‬.
Friends, it is the Holy Spirit who prays the believer into the perfect will of God in every situation. Therefore, you can’t effectively walk in the Spirit without living a life of prayer and particularly, praying in the Holy Spirit.

Prayer points
1. Father, please, quicken me again in the place of prayer and reveal Your will as I pray in the Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
2. PRAY IN TONGUES FOR 30 MINUTES TODAY AND REPEAT IT EVERYDAY.

Today’s declarations
1. As I pray in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit reveals God’s mind and ushers me into God’s will.
2. I am conscious that my decisions are prone to errors because I am limited in knowledge.
