WHEN DO MIRACLES HAPPEN? 2

WHEN DO MIRACLES HAPPEN? 2

Text: 1 King 17:1-16
Memory verse:
““Fear not, you worm Jacob, You men of Israel! I will help you,” says the Lord And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

There is a time that is regarded as the right time. It is the most appropriate and safest time. God is regarded as the ever-present Help in trouble. He is the on-time or on-schedule Helper. He shows up, not only before it becomes too late but at the most appropriate time. That is the time when God gets the most glory.
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” ‭‭(Psa‬ ‭46‬:‭1‬).‬‬
According to our text, prophet Elijah showed up just when the widow was about to cook her last meal for her and her son to eat and then wait for death. He came just at the nick of time. Someone would have thought that, God sent Elijah to the widow primarily for his sustenance, after the brook dried up and that the miracle was only performed as a result of the condition with which Elijah met the widow. That is, the miracle wasn’t part of God’s original plan. But the question is this, “Why would God, in the first place, send Elijah to a widow for sustenance? Interestingly, she was not just a widow but a needy widow! Were there no other financially comfortable widows in Israel that could better provide for Elijah?” You see, God had seen the urgency of the widow’s need and sent prophet Elijah to intercept death in her family. So, in the real sense, God’s primary purpose for sending Elijah to the widow was to stop the impending death of her and her son. So, Elijah wasn’t the one in need of the widow but the widow who was in need of Elijah. Likewise, God sometimes makes demand from us, not because He is in need of our provision but because we are in need of His blessing.
Friends, have you exhausted all avenues to find a solution to the situation, and it appears as if what you feared most is becoming a reality in your life? Fear not, for you won’t be disgraced nor be disappointed. God will come through for you. The ever-present Help in trouble will show up for you right on time. Hallelujah!
