WHY IS GAMBLING UNGODLY? (5)

WHY IS GAMBLING UNGODLY? (5)

Text: Matthew 25:19-30
Memory text:
“Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God wants you to see every resource He gives you, whether money, time, talent, or opportunity, as a trust. Therefore, when you gamble, you waste what heaven has entrusted to you. Gambling is not only financial carelessness; it is a violation of divine stewardship. It breaks divine trust. It’s unfaithfulness. It is a misuse of trust because you are risking on chance instead of investing it in purpose. Gambling is the misuse of divine resources for selfish excitement.
God calls us not to risk what He gives but to multiply them through diligence, wisdom, and obedience. He doesn’t only watch how much we have, but He watches how we use it.
“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.” ‭‭(Luke‬ ‭16‬:‭10‬).
Firstly, it’s important that you know that whatever you have is a gift from God. Remember that a man can receive nothing unless it is given to him from above (John 3:27). There is nothing one has that he can claim not to have received, irrespective of how much you laboured to acquire them.
Secondly, it’s important to know that no matter how great or valuable those earthly riches are, they are far inferior to heavenly riches. In fact, these earthly riches are only shadows of the true eternal riches.
True riches are the spiritual, eternal, and incorruptible blessings that come from God. They are not measured in money or material gain. They are the deeper things of heaven that can’t be corrupted, bought, or lost. For example, what earthly riches can be compared with one’s salvation and relationship with God? (Matt 16:26). Salvation is the demonstration of God’s riches to mankind. ““…for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.” ‭‭(Rom‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬). The grace of God is described as “the exceeding riches of His grace.” (Eph 2:7-8). Divine authority is far superior to silver and gold (Acts 3:6).
Thirdly, faithfulness in managing worldly resources is seen as a test of a person’s character and suitability for greater spiritual responsibilities. Earthly wealth is a test, not a trophy.
Friends, gambling spends what grace intends you to sow. Every coin you waste in gambling is a trust you betray. You can’t expect God to bless what you use against His wisdom. Gamblers are liable to judgment instead of rewards because of their wastefulness and unfaithfulness.

Prayer points
1. Father, please forgive me for every way I have wasted and misused Your resources and have been unfaithful as a steward, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, let me never fail when You test my character. Help me to be a faithful steward and trust me with true riches, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. I do not violate divine stewardship. I invest and multiply God’s resources entrusted to me, wisely, faithfully, and purposefully. I see earthly wealth as a test, not a trophy.
2. I won’t provoke God’s judgment nor disqualify myself from receiving true riches by gambling or by wasting and misusing the time, money, and opportunities that God has entrusted to me.
