WHY YOU SHOULD THANK GOD 2

WHY YOU SHOULD THANK GOD 2

Text: Psalm 19:1-6
Memory verse:
”Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.“
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭100‬:‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Some people behave as if they are doing God a favour by thanking Him generously. What an ignorance! Even though He is happy when you thank and praise Him, He is only happy that you are a son or a daughter who knows what your duty is and fulfilling the purpose of your existence. You were made for His glory, and it is your duty to praise Him. He is the One who has done us favour by making us in His image, giving us the privilege to praise Him and giving us undeserved blessings. He is the One treating us with grace and not us treating Him with grace. We don’t deserve a ‘thank you’ but He deserves a big ‘thank you’. “Servants don’t deserve special thanks for doing what they are supposed to do.” (Luke 17:9 CEV).
Even though He receives praise continuously from His creations, yet He still chose us to praise Him.
”The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day, they continue to speak; night after night, they make him known.“ ‭‭(Psa‬ ‭19‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬).
You see, your thankless attitude has no consequence for Him, but it has grave consequences for you!
”If you do not serve the Lord your God with joy and enthusiasm for the abundant benefits you have received, you will serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you. You will be left hungry, thirsty, naked, and lacking in everything. The Lord will put an iron yoke on your neck, oppressing you harshly until he has destroyed you.“ (‭‭Deut‬ ‭28‬:‭47‬-‭48‬ ‭NLT‬‬).
When you thank God with joy and enthusiasm, your blessing is multiplied. ”Jesus took the bread in His hands and gave thanks to God. Then He passed the bread to the people, and He did the same with the fish, until everyone had plenty to eat.” (John 6:11 CEV).
Friends, thankful people never go down, but they go up. Thankful people never experience stagnation but progression. Your mouth can either finish you or multiply you. Rather than complaining and grumbling that you don’t have enough, begin to thank Him with great joy and excitement for the little that you have and the power of multiplication will set in.
Thank Him excitedly with a song, a dance, a clap, a shout, and a tambourine. Count it a great privilege to thank your Maker.

Praise points
1. Spend some time today to thank God willingly, generously, and joyfully for His benefits.
2. Turn your focus away from your lack or needs, and thank God for His goodness in the past.

Today’s declarations
1. I am conscious that my thankless attitude has no consequence to God but has grave consequences for me.
2. It is a privilege to thank God, and I will always do it joyfully and with enthusiasm.
