Text: Ephesians 2:4-7
Memory verse:
and raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus
Ephesians 2:6 NKJV
Until you know what belongs to you in Christ, it will be impossible to enjoy the victory that God has for you in Him. The devil is deceitful and wants to keep you in ignorance.
The scripture says we were raised together with Christ and now seated with Him in the heavenly places. ”and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,“ (Eph 2:6). Our position there is at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb 12:2). This is the highest place of authority and power in the universe. It is the place where Jesus is seating and we are sitting there with Him. Why did Jesus raise us up to that level? It’s to share His authority with us. The believers have authority over satan and his demons in the world.
Likewise, God has made Christ the head of His church and has put all things under His feet. That speaks of the authority and dominion of Christ. ”God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church.“ (Eph 1:22 NLT). It means that if Christ is the head, the church is the body. The feet are also attached to the body. Therefore, the authority of Christ is demonstrated on earth through the church. This is what Ephesians 3:10 also says: “God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display His wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.”(NLT).
Jesus got this authority for our benefit. Colossians 2:15 tells us that He spoiled, disarmed, or stripped principalities and powers. To spoil is to defeat an enemy. Jesus defeated satan, disarmed him of all his weapons, and stripped him of his stolen authority. To disarm is to strip off, to put off, to disrobe. It refers to the stripping away of weapons and hence the removal of authority and power from satan and his demons. Jesus did these for you.
Friends, satan has no authority over you anymore. He is under your foot and not above you. Even satan himself knows it, but he is happy when you are ignorant of your blood-purchased authority over him. Stand up against him today, and he will flee from you. Hallelujah.
Prayer points
1. Father, thank You for disarming satan and his cohorts and for stripping them of all their stolen goods in Jesus’ name.
2. I stand against satan and the principalities, and I command them to flee in Jesus’ name.
Today’s declarations
1. I am seated with Christ at the right hand of the throne, the place of authority and satan, and his demons are under my feet.
2. Until I know what belongs to me in Christ, I can’t enjoy the victory in Christ.
