Text: Acts 17:24-29
“for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.”
Acts 17:28 NKJV
An eagle caught from the jungle and brought home to be raised inside a caged environment may survive but will never be at its best in there. Likewise, some fishes like catfish may survive outside the water environment but only for few hours. Every creature is created to survive and thrive in it’s natural environment. The natural environment is the source or the place from which they were created. For example, fishes survive and thrive inside the water because that is their natural environment. Most plant species thrive on land and cannot survive and thrive on waters except for the water species. Likewise, the birds’ natural environment is the air. But for man, our natural environment is God.
When God wanted to create the plants, He directed His creative speech to the land, “Let the earth bring forth…” (Gen 1:12). When it was time to create the fishes, God spoke to the waters
“Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens” (Gen 1:20)
But when He wanted to make man, He directed His creative speech to Himself
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness ..”
Thus, since God is the natural environment of man, outside Him, man can’t thrive and man will never fulfill purpose.
According to our text today, our being is completely in God.
“for we live and move in Him, can’t get away from Him, .., ‘We’re the God created.” (Acts 17:28 MSG). To live without God is to live in the shadows.
Friends, as an eagle can never thrive in a limited caged environment, so you can never fulfill your life purpose and find fulfillment in life outside God. True leadership springs up from being in your natural environment.
1. Father, please, help me never to leave You, being my natural environment in Jesus name.
2. Father, please, let my leadership potential be revealed more and more as I stay in You in Jesus name.
1. My leadership potential becomes more manifest as I live, move and exist in God.
2. As a fish can’t be at it’s best outside the water environment, neither can I be my best outside God.
