YOUR RECEIPT

YOUR RECEIPT

Text: Romans 4:23-25
Memory verse:
“who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭25‬ ‭

Most people rarely keep payment receipts of little items because it’s always considered unneeded. However, no one will want to handle the receipt or title of a landed property carelessly. Your receipt is so important because it confirms and validates your payment.
Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭25 says, “who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.” This scripture has two parts. Firstly, Jesus was delivered because of our offenses. Jesus was delivered by the predetermined counsel and purpose of God to be crucified in order to satisfy His wrath against sins and to demonstrate His love for man (Acts 2:23; Isa 53:10). Notice the second phrase used – “and was raised because of our justification.” It didn’t say that ‘He was delivered for our justification’. Justification is to make right before God. “Because of our sins He was given over to die, and He was raised to life in order to put us right with God” ( GNT).
Jesus fully paid for our sins, when He declared, “It is finished”. However, He was raised to prove the reliability of this statement and to confirm the finished work. His resurrection is an evidence that Jesus’ work on our behalf has been truly completed. God showed His approval of Jesus’ sacrifice by raising Jesus. Therefore, the resurrection serves as God’s receipt, confirming that Jesus’ death, as the payment for sin, was a sufficient and acceptable payment to God.
Friends, your resurrection receipt is far more valuable than that of your landed property. It’s a proof that you have been forgiven (1 Cor 15:17). The receipt is the truth or the word of God about your redemptive blessings that you know. Let them be precious to you and meditate on them.
