Topic: Satan’s Deadliest Weapon; Sexual Immorality
Text: 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
It is deadly because:
-No one is immuned from this temptation.
-No one can outgrow it.
-It takes advantage of the gift of God/it explores what God has given us. The desire for intimacy is natural. Satan takes advantage of this natural gift
-It is a sin that is against the body. 1 Corinthians 6:18.
-It brings soul ties. It is beyond physical enjoyment of the moment, it is an exchange of spirit. The easiest way an enemy attacks a man is through soul-ties. 1 Corinthians 6:16
-It distorts intimacy and love- the natural gift of God. 1 John 4:8
– It leads to/breeds other sins.
Sexual Immorality works with conditions; in conducive environment.
Intimacy is good in marriage, but if done outside marriage, the wrath of God is imminent.
As powerful as sexual Immorality is, the grace of God overpowers it.
Until you receive of “no condemnation “, you cannot have victory over sin. John 8:11.
How to overcome the grip of sexual Immorality:
-Know that you are vulnerable. 1 Corinthians 10:12. When you are conscious of this, you will take heed.
-Confess your sin, don’t hide it. Psalm 51:1-4, Proverbs 28:13. Don’t justify sin nor rationalize it.
-Repent with action. Matthew 3:8. You must put action into your confession. Proverbs 28:13.
-Where necessary, seek help. Swallow your pride and seek help from a trusted counsellor- someone who is confidential and can be of help. Proverbs 18:1.
-Seek God through prayer and fasting. If it is important to you, you will give up every other thing. Matthew 17:21.
-Set boundaries. Song of Solomon 8:4.
-Take advantage of kingdom community. God doesn’t want you to fight alone. Proverbs 18:1, Hebrews 10:23-25.
-Focus on your purpose in life and not just about being pure. One thing that will help against compromise is your purpose.
-Walk in grace and not in condemnation. Stop living in guilt, receive forgiveness. 1 John 1:7. Don’t allow the enemy to take advantage of you.
You have known the truth, the truth will set you free in Jesus’Name.
If you are under the bondage of sexual Immorality, cry out to the Lord to deliver you from this bondage.
Receive grace to stand in theĀ nameĀ ofĀ Jesus.
